Martinborough is one of New Zealand's favourite wine regions. It is mainly known for producing some of the country's top class Pinot Noir wines. It is a leisurely 1 1/2 hour drive NE of Wellington. There are several quaint small country towns located within a short drive of Martinborough - offering a great choice of boutiques and cafes as well as other unique attractions. Martinborough itself has a variety of restaurants and cafes, wineries and outdoor activities.
